Lake Testing Information

Posted 6/30/2022

There have been some recent comments/ concerns shared with the Board of Commissioners that inquire about lake water quality conditions. The Board wishes to share the following details with residents about our lake water/beach area testing process.

During the summer months of June, July, and August; the Board samples the water at all four (4) beaches to measure the water quality relative to E. coli bacteria. This sample is performed one (1) time per month. In the event of a bad test (high level), the Board would communicate this finding to the residents through our Web Page and Official Face Book page. Placard / sign posting on any affected beach would also be put up for residents to view. This would temporarily restrict the use of swimming at the beaches until it is deemed safe to enter the water. Follow up tests would then be performed until a good/ acceptable level was achieved and would then allow swimming in the beach areas again. If the tests are good, there is no additional communication other than sharing the results in our monthly District meetings. The June sampling had acceptable levels and the normal July sampling will occur next week.

A recent concern from residents that was received by the Board through our emails/phone calls related to a potential for Cyanobacteria presence at the Meetinghouse beach. Sample bottles were obtained for this particular test and samples were taken on 6/30/22 which are being submitted for testing this same date. Test results take between 7-10 days before results are available. If you have any concerns with water quality, you may want to stay out of the water until results are known. Swimming is always at your own risk. In the future, if residents see something that does not look right relative to water quality, please reach out to the Board using proper communication methods; IE., email: info@elvdnh.com or the District phone numbers as listed on the website. The Board does not monitor or follow the private Face book groups.

Thank you, Board of Commissioners

Attention Ellen Brook Road Residents

Posted 6/12/2022

Construction for the 2022 Water Main Replacement Project will be starting in the upcoming weeks. Throughout the duration of construction, all residents on this street will be provided water through a temporary water service connection at your curb stop or house spigot (if needed). This temporary connection will exist until the water main in the street has been replaced and satisfactory pressure and disinfection testing has been completed.

Temporary water mains will run along the edge of the roadway and connect from the existing water system to your curb stop. The water provided to your house will be the same water that is currently provided, just through a different temporary pipe. The plastic piping you will see meets all water quality standards for potable water.

Once the temporary piping is installed, each residence will be without water for a short period of time while the home is switched from the existing water main to the temporary water main. All residences will be notified the day prior to switching service.

Residents that are home will be instructed to run one of the taps in their house until the air in the new temporary piping is flushed from their service. If you are not home the day this happens, please be aware there will be air when the tap is first turned on. Run the tap until there is no longer air in the service line.

This is a standard operating practice for water main construction projects to maintain water service to residences while the existing pipe is replaced.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Emerald Lake Village District at info@elvdnh.com or 603-464-3128.

Thank you, Board of Commissioners

ELVD and Aquamen Water Solutions Recognized by State of NHDES As 2022 Source Water Sustainability Award recipients

ELVD and Aquamen Water Solutions Recognized by State of NHDES As 2022 Source Water Sustainability Award Recipients

Posted 6/6/2022

On May 24, 2022 NHDES Commissioner Robert Scott presented the 2022 Source Water Sustainability Award to ELVD and Aquamen Water Solutions. The state recognized the ongoing efforts that both the ELVD and their water operators; Aquamen Water Solutions, have put forth over the last couple of years at water conservation and loss prevention. This could not have been achieved without the support of many teams and people. As current Chairman, Commissioner Taber was present to receive the award along with co-owners Craig McGraw and Harold Smith, which occurred at the NH National Guard Edward Cross training facility In Pembroke, NH during the 2022 Annual Source Water Protection Conference.

In recognition of receiving this award, the ELVD Board would like to recognize the following partners in allowing us to meet this achievement. The entire team of Aquamen Water Solutions, our Engineering partners Wright-Pierce Consultants, the entire ELVD board over the last year; Sara Auger, Debbie Kardaseski, and Brett Taber; and last but probably the most important is every resident of ELVD. Without their continued vigil at reporting water loss issues, struggling through continued Water Ban restrictions, and their continued belief and support of the Board in the ongoing efforts being made system wide towards the planned improvements during annual meeting approvals. Thank you to all involved and for your continued support.

Thank you,
Brett Taber
ELVD Board of Commissioner Chairman
